MYmailSAFE is a new form of
mail management system, that
goes beyond the traditional
approaches of anti-virus and
anti-spam technologies. It
gives mail administrators
the ability to perform full
content analysis on all
inbound and out bound mail,
ensuring that you have full
control over all content
that enters and leaves your
network.
Within a typical large
organisation each department
will have its own unique
requirements for email.
From restricted and business case driven
settings within customer facing departments,
specialised settings for IT Staff through open
and unrestricted settings for specific users.
MYmailSAFE is
deployed normally as an appliance with
the server being either set as the
default SMTP gateway for all your mail
servers, your MX records should point at
the MYmailSAFE appliance so all inbound
mail can be analysed before delivery to
you mail server. Normally, to ensure
security, it should be the only device
within your internal network that is
allowed to send mail to the Internet.
Once deployed, MYmailSAFE can be
pre-populated with user and group
accounts from most Directory Services
(Active Directory/LDAP etc.). With the
dramatic increase in spam, viruses and
malware being transmitted over the
Internet via email, it is becoming more
and more important to ensure that
inappropriate or damaging materials do
not enter your network.
MYmailSAFE is a rule-based system allowing you
to implement rules based on "who", "what" and
"when" with specific actions applied on emails
that match those defined rules. Basic rules that
should be implemented for all users include
anti-virus scanning of all attachments with
virus-matched emails being automatically
deleted. Additional basic rules will normally
include matching emails to known spam signatures
and scanning of emails and attachments for a
list of prohibited words and phrases.
Advanced rules can also be implemented to
control what type of attachments can be sent and
received. It is simple to allow normal users to
send and received basic office attachments and
PDF’s and restrict active files such as
executables and scripts only to be sent and
received by I.T. staff.
In the same fashion
file sizes can be managed delaying large
file attachments to be sent out with
normal office hours to preserve
bandwidth or blocking them completely -
these functions as with all others are
completely configurable to your needs. One unique advanced function is our ability to
analyse content for similarity traits. In this
way MYmailSAFE can be used to prevent
confidential and valuable information being sent
out from your organisation by unauthorised
users.
For example:
Scan
all inbound/outbound email for known viruses -
if virus detected - delete email.
Scan
all inbound/outbound email for known Spam
signatures - if spam detected block email.
Scan
all inbound/outbound email attachments - if
attachment is an executable or active script and
the user
is not a member of the IT group, send email but
block attachment and notify sender and recipient that
attachment has been removed.
Scan
all inbound/outbound email - if email is greater
than 30mb then delay sending email until after 6:00pm
and notify sender recipient of action.
Scan
all inbound/outbound email - if email is greater
than 100m then delete email and notify sender
and
recipient
that email has been deleted.
Scan
all inbound/outbound emails if content of email
is similar to information marked as classified
then block
email
and send notification to administrator informing
them of potential breach of security.
These are samples of the possible rules that can
be implemented. It is possible to implement
almost unlimited rules specifically designed to
match your requirements.
